What does it involve

As a youth councillor you will have certain responsibilities. These will vary depending on the projects you take on as a group, however here are some of the key ones:
  • Attend the 8 Youth Council meetings a year. These last an hour and generally start at 6pm.
  • Send ideas and items to discuss to the Youth Council Committee Clerk before meetings.
  • Carry out research and hold events
  • Raise money/awareness for the Youth Council and the House in the Basement Youth Café.

How can it benefit you?

  • Looks fantastic on your UCAS application.
  • Enhances your CV to help with future careers.
  • Counts as volunteering/community service for awards such as DofE, ASDAN, and IB's CAS.
  • Have your say in decisions affecting you and your community.
  • Private audience with the MP for Sevenoaks and a tour of the Houses of Parliament.
  • Great for careers in management, politics, finance, journalism, administration and much more.
